Viral Video Ad Weekly Round Up: August 1, 2011

Blood, flying through the air, breaking tree branches with snowboards – yep, Red Bull is at it again.  This trailer for the company’s newest sponsored film showcases high production value, phenomenal snowboarding, and a remarkable amount of health hazards. Being fans of people doing crazy things we wish we could do, this trailer earns our thumbs up.

Microsoft, why are you picking fights with Google? Why are you disabling comments and leaving your video unlisted? You’re passive aggressive jab at Google misses the mark with its sarcasm and makes us ask why, considering the quality of Hotmail, you would attack Gmail? Then again, given Microsoft’s history of fails, we can’t be fully surprised by this collapse in logic.

Google has been the equivalent of a raging bull with its unparalleled success using online videos.  Their latest video is an amusing new ad asking users to help their friends switch to Gmail from their antiquated email addresses. For those of you who still have friends using things like Hotmail, we suggest you answer Google’s call to action and intervene.

Do you remember the last time you saw something so cool you just couldn’t help but smile? For us, it’s this video collaboration between OK Go and Google. When played properly in Google’s Chrome browser (which utilizes the new HTML5) we were impressed by the choreography, song, and interactivity of this video.

Unless you’ve had your head buried in the sand for the last month you’ve probably heard about Google+. The new social media site takes an innovative approach to keeping your circles of friends organized. This cartoon provides a great explanation for why Google+ is a must-have for those who enjoy social networking.
