I Want a Goat is an experimental viral fundraising campaign. We set out with a modest goal of raising $2,000 USD to purchase goats for the tribal villagers of Orissa, India. The campaign included a multimedia scavenger hunt, a viral video, and a website that makes the donation process entertaining and sticky (iwantagoat.com). We blew past our fundraising goal on the first day and now have much larger expectations for the campaign. We continue to get donations from hundreds of people online, the vast majority of whom are 18-24 with no history of philanthropy.
